Stairs and Railings- Most people that view your Custom Home only know what they see and touch. When building a home on speculation I've had sales people advise, "if you can't see or feel it, don't put it in". Poor short tem thinking if you ask me and a sure way to put yourself out of business once your reputation gets ruined. A custom home has to "wear well" with the homeowners or a Builders reputation will be trashed. The Custom Home Building market is small and you better have a reputation for building quality with value.
When homeowners walk through a home with stairs and railings they have to be solid. The treads better not squeak and the railings rock solid. I usually have this type of conversation with my stair and railing suppliers. If the stairs and rails aren't rock solid you will be ripping them out. No excuses will be accepted!
If there is a 200 mph hurricane and the entire home is swept away I want the homeowners to be safe as they wrapped their legs around the stair, newel post and it's still there!

Notice solid wood handrail is mounted to wall trim and not cheap mounting hardware into the wall.
